#11 - When I Took A Risk and Followed A Calling

Follow your heart and you’ll be given signs and guidance while on your journey…

I feel compelled to share what has just happened to me.  I feel there’s a powerful underlying message from it.

(As I wrote this post, now over 1 month ago) Six days prior, I made two major decisions in my life.

1.     I put in the 60 day notice for my lease.  I will be leaving where I’ve lived for the last 6 years.  I have no idea where I’ll go, but I have a gut feeling it will be Denver (currently live in Wisconsin).  First I intend on doing international traveling for however long..

2.     I have been a personal trainer and fitness coach for the last 8 years of my life and notified my clients that I will no longer be training.

I made these decisions so I could follow my heart/gut/intuition and work on the ‘Break Free’ project.  I have been feeling pulled in this direction so I needed to eliminate the personal training business, which I felt was becoming more of a distraction.  The training was no longer moving my life forward and I felt a calling for a bigger purpose.  I’ve been immersing myself into the Break Free project, and it’s felt right.  I feel alive and enthusiastic while working on it.  I don’t even think twice working 10-12hrs a day on this new venture.

However, the week following the decision, I of course had some conflicting thoughts at times, such as:

“Can you really do this?”

“Will this really work?”

“Is this really what you’re supposed to be doing?”

“Are there even people that need what I plan to offer?”

Well, it’s literally amazing as to how the universe, God or whatever you believe in, gives you signals, direction and guidance when you truly follow your heart and calling.  Probably one of the most “eary” things happened to me, on the Thursday following my ‘decisions’.

You see, as I was experiencing some forms of uncertainty, on that Thursday I was given a clear cut answer….”this IS what you’re supposed to do and here’s where you start.”

On Wednesday night I received a random Facebook message from a guy.  He asked what I did for a living.  I simply told him that I’m an entrepreneur:  I have a personal training business (transitioning out), work with a company that specializes in health and nutrition solutions and most recently started working on a new project/venture (Break Free Project – now known as The Break Free Journey).

I then asked what has him interested.  He responded by saying that he was looking for a health change.  I then categorized him into the nutrition business, as a way to help him.  I then set up an in-person meeting for the following day.

We met at a Starbucks and I came with all the materials in regards to helping him by providing nutrition solutions.

It was during the consultation, as he started to share is story and why he was seeking help that I was hit with an intense feeling in my stomach and chest.  I can’t really describe it, but it was like a lightness feeling and/or surge of energy through my chest.

Here I was, sitting right across from a guy that happens to be the EXACT person The Break Free journey is designed for.  I remember sitting there listening to him and thinking “ok universe/god, I hear you.”  And all I could think about was helping this guy.  I didn’t care, I was going to help this guy and I knew 100% that I could.

The words that were coming out of his mouth were the exact words I used when describing The Break Free journey and whom it’s intended for.   Since I founded The Break Free Journey based on my own life experiences and passions, it was also as if I was listening to myself.  He was feeling exactly how I was, having the exact same thoughts and wanted to “Break Free” just like I did.  I was immediately reassured that there are people seeking what I plan to offer through The Break Free Journey.

I’m choosing to believe that this was not a coincidence.  There’s a reason he randomly found my Facebook profile and reached out to me with the exact pain points that The Break Free Journey is meant to solve.

It’s also as if I was given a road map as to what to do next. It became clear that I needed to immediately create the beta course/program for The Break Free Journey.   He will be the very first person to be taken through the Break Free journey.  I couldn’t be more excited and ready to create this program.  Prior to this meeting I was unaware as to when I should actually create the course/program……I was given the answer.  NOW!

It’s as if I was told, “Here’s your guide as to how to create this program.  You need to create this now because there are many others waiting for something like this, to solve their pain points”.

I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and I know I was meant to help this guy.  He was put in front of me for a reason. I’ve met with hundreds of people for consultations and none of them hit me like this in the gut/heart.  It was probably one of the most clarifying moments of my life.

The message I’ve taken away from this:

When you follow your heart and purpose you’ll be given clear cut signs that you’re on the right path.

Things will be aligned for you and you’ll be given subtle direction and guidance as you venture down this journey, a journey aligned with your inner purpose in life and outer purpose.  It’s our responsibility to notice them, listen and then most importantly act, without delay nor doubt.

If you adapt this belief and faith there is no reason to not act on your purpose and dream and follow your heart.  Don’t be consumed with the ‘how’, just act, and if It’s in line with your purpose you’ll be given the directions.  You’ll be guided along the way.  Just be aware of the guidance.  Just GO!

The question becomes, are you aware of these signs?  Or have you been ignoring your heart so you’ve never even been given a sign?  Are you letting doubt paralyze you?

Reflection Questions:

1.     Have you ever acted on your heart/gut/intuition?   IF so, can you think back and see the signs and guidance you were given along the way?

2.     What is your inner purpose?

3.     Is your inner purpose and dreams (outer purpose) aligned?

4.     Are you currently following your heart/intuition or ignoring it?  Why?  If you’re uncertain, make the decision and see if you’re given any signs or direction.

5.     Have you missed some signs?  Through reflection, have you been on a path before and missed the signs and guidance?  Why did you miss them or maybe ignore them?

6.     Do you believe that you’ll be given signs and guidance when you follow your real purpose?
