#59 - Should You Eat Fruit if You're Trying to Lose Weight?

Summary

Fruit is healthy right?  

Then you should be able to eat it and as much of it as you want.  Well, maybe not.  In this video I will cut right to the chase and explain if you should or should not eat fruit and WHY.  If you can master this one skill, you will be on the fast track to your best body.  

The major issue is your insulin secretion:  

It's not the fruit, it's what the fruit does to your physiology.  When you consume sugars, carbs, and fruits (depending on the glycemic index) you will have a major spike in blood sugar levels causing the secretion of insulin.  When insulin is secreted your body shuts off the fat burning process and begins the "anabolic" storing phase (good if you just worked out and your muscles need it) bad if you're just sitting there and not doing much = more fat. 

Never have fruit alone: 

If you're having fruit, eat it with a healthy fat source or protein to lower the glycemic LOAD.  This will keep your sugar levels down and keep your insulin levels lower. 

If you've struggled with your weight and just can't seem to lose weight: 

Stop all fruit intake for 2-3 weeks.  Eat loads of veggies, healthy fats and protein.  You will do this to re sensitize your body to insulin.  Then slowly add in fruits to you diet.  Try and keep it to one, maybe two servings per day.

Stick to fibrous fruits if you're trying to lose weight: 

Berries are higher in fiber, causing less of a raise in blood sugar.  

The skill you MUST learn to master: 

If you can master the skill of regulating your insulin sensitivity and blood sugar, maintaining and managing your body composition (body fat) will be much easier.  This one skill/ability can forever change your body, health, and life.
