#42 - The Truth About Losing Weight and Diets

Summary: 

We don't get our goals, we get our MUST - our standards. Often times the frustration we feel from our weight and body type fluctuations is a result of the standards that we've set.   We must become more self-aware, reflect and answer the question honestly, "Where are my standards?"  The truth is power.  Only then can we change and direct our lives or bodies where we truly desire to be.  It's time to expose our lies and justifications that we often hide behind in order to live a particular lifestyle.  The answer is awareness.  We must consistently be self-aware enough to see and tell ourselves the TRUTH. 

Secondly, we must become aware of the identities that we have latched onto.  Are we hiding behind our identity as well?  So often we've adapted identities that were formed and conditioned through parenting, schooling, society and/or a few experiences in our lives.  Many of these were formed while we children, not conscious adults.  It becomes our responsibility, as conscious adults, to take a hard look and ask, "Is this identity, that I've adapted, serving me?  Is it positively impacting my life and will it enable me to achieve my goals and dreams?"   Example:  Is an identity of "shy" serving me?   Is an identity of, "Fat funny guy" serving me?  Is an identity of, "The party guy" serving me?  Is the identity of, "Take no shit guy" serving me?  Is the identity of, "I tell it like it is girl/cold hearted" serving me?  

The problem is that we feel a great amount of pressure to be/live/act/behave consistently with our identities, whether they are what we really want or not.  It's human behavior to do so.  

So, as a conscious adult, we must consciously CREATE identities that we desire and ones that will positively impact our lives and take us closer to our goals and dreams.
